Social media is a place where people who talk to themselves in private—or fancy themselves someone else, in private—can now do so publicly, and still alone, comforted and secure that it's considered sane behavior online.
The internet is the fast food of civilization—offering its "empty calories" in the form of manufactured, processed, and heavily marketed information, while failing to feed us the necessary nourishment of real knowledge.
